This film is pretty much what I expected it to be: a middling effort; unrealistic but interesting. Jaume Collet-Serra did a very nice job on his effective direction, mostly because of the use of slow-motion, the suspense, and how he coaches the cast how to perform with amazing precision. the movie has a beautiful color palette and the colors can go from brightly upbeat during the sunshine and grim during cloudy days, nighttime, and underwater. The decent score by Macro Beltrami is simple but effective. It's captivating to see a survival movie about a heroine outsmarting the world's largest predator fish with a brain that's over 40 centimeters long and can learn 80 times faster than a cat, especially trying to lure the beast to some hazardous obstacles in the way like the stinging coral, jellyfish, and eventually spears, while trying trying to survive through the excruciating pain. Blake Lively did a phenomenal job; adding credibility to each and every scene. The character that she played is Nancy. Nancy is a mixed character; on the bright side, she is a medical student that is good at treating injuries to herself and fixing a broken wing on a wounded red-billed gull. She also has the impressive ability to use her brain to solve tricky problems. On the down side though, she knows nothing about sharks and hates them, She thinks that a seagull's bite is a terrible way of saying "thank you" (actually, they bite to force Nancy to let go and doesn't like the pain), And she is not supposed to climb on top of a whale carcass; it's a bad idea, because dead whales can be dangerous because of the bacteria l decomposition. It shows that her IQ of intelligence is in the middle. The CGI special effect of the great white shark is astounding; from the structure, to the skin, to the maneuverability is all the exact replica of a real great white with animalistic precision. However, the behavior of this CG shark here is sometimes inaccurate: Sharks don't growl because they don't have vocal chords and they don't have lungs, they would never let prey dodge to escape because sharks have been known to have a very fast response action when chasing prey. Sharks don't take humans as food personally, because other prey including fish, rays, pinnipeds, other sharks, and dead whales is everything to them, not to mention that sharks can find food else where, and of course: great white sharks don't eat humans; they prefer prey that is not skinny, not bony, and have a lot more meat. You know what I wished for? I wished that the filmmakers make the head of the CG shark poke out of the water to see the victim, because the great white is the only species of shark that pokes her head out of the water exposed to inspect something above the surface like a crocodilian. all in all, it's a decent movie to watch, but for Recommendation: it's not recommended to anyone. Skip It.

I personally think it was a great movie, although it does have its downsides on putting new ways of thinking of these apex predators in the ocean. As you can see most of these reviews are bad because of the way they paint an image in people's minds which I agree to some standards. But I also do believe not to just stick around one either. Lastly for all these people who reviewed in such a bad way please watch what you say you shouldn't put your argument out here with such aggressive words and aggressive tone it could be offensive to some people and only give you more trouble than what you already have.

I can't begin to say how disappointed i am.. Without spoiling the film there is a dedicated food source available for the Carcharias charcharodon, and not being territorial over food sources when in abundance there is zero motive for a white pointer to act aggressively towards humans. ITS BULLSHIT LIKE THIS AND SHARK WEEK ON, SO CALLED, DISCOVERY CHANNEL THAT PERPETUATE THESE STERIOTYPES AND MISINFORMATION. WHICH ULTIMATELY IS DANGEROUS FOR BOTH THE ANIMALS AS WELL AS THE HUMANS... :'(
